Mexico '68 Chair and Stool—Abstract furniture series based on the 1968 Olympic identity system developed by Lance Wyman.
CNC cut baltic birch plywood, cotton webbing, Jacquard Dye-Na-Flow Ink, and Odie’s Oil.
The design also draws inspiration from indigenous Huichol yarn paintings, Aztec carvings, and mid century Clara Porset butaque chairs.
Also researching student protests, the Tlatelolco massacre, and all of the other complex history surrounding the 1968 Olympics as I create an object meant to promote unity and peace through sharing a moment of rest and conversation between athletic events.
