Baseline—An experimental typeface modeled after the lines, curves, and other markings found on a basketball court.
Drawing from the iconic geometry of a basketball court, I was interested in experimenting with how a limited toolset of abstract lines and curves could be manipulated and rearranged to form a dynamic alphabet with the same energy as a fastbreak.
As a challenge, all markings stayed the same scale and each marking shared a common line weight. This way, new forms could be created through play and constant repositioning instead of working within my own preconceived notions of letter making.
