Smoosh—A variable typeface created using physical paint and pressure.
This variable typeface was created by writing letterforms with a tube of paint and then "smooshing" two pieces of paper together, hence the typeface's name. Through this exercise I was able to appreciate the uncontrollable parts of design and challenge myself to see how far I could take the process to create uniques forms. Using the two states of the letter as a starting point, I then experimented with writing multi syllabic words with them and using the smooshed variations to emphasize the rhythm of the spoken word.
